Planning, Building Control & Project Management

LA Lodges are experienced in providing a full design and planning application service along with building warrant applications and, if requested, project management service from start to completion.

We offer a full build service or we can do the early more specialist log construction and allow the less specialised completion of works to the customer. The building arrives with full construction drawings so it is also possible to self assemble your building and we are are happy to provide the kit only.

Timber Protection

All base frame timbers, together with decking and fencing are pressure impregnated. The external walls of the building should either be factory treated or protected with an external wood preservative available on the market in a choice of colours. We will happily advise you on products which we have used successfully for years.

Foundations

Foundations can be concrete slabs, strip foundation or effectively any type of traditional foundation. Concrete slab is the most popular due to ease of construction.

A typical foundation drawing will be supplied but actual fundament requirement will depend on site land conditions.

Log Houses

Only slow grown Nordic Spruce and Pine are used in the production of any LA Lodges building, with the typical age of timber being 100 years.
All wall log natural timbers are kiln dried to 18%.

Built to Last

For thousands of years timber has been used for the construction of homes, it is one of the few materials with natural strength and insulation qualities, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Superior materials for durability and attractiveness. We use only grade 1 Nordic Spruce and Pine which is dense in structure, because it is slow growing due to climatical conditions.

We at LA Lodges, with our traditional values approach, together with advanced computer aided design systems and manufacturing equipment, are endeavouring to be in a class of our own.

Roofing Options

Timber buildings can be fitted with slate, concrete tiles, sedum roofs, metal roof sheets in tile profile or even bitumen backed felt roof shingles. At the design stage the customer must specify their preference, as cement tile roof loading is much greater than that of bitumen felt.
